  "note": "Public distribution system: foodgrains procured by the Food Corporation of India and state agencies, issued from the central pool (off-take), and held in it (stocks, at the end of the year: the central pool on 1 April), DBIE report 464 and the Handbook's table 169, lakh tonnes. Total stocks include coarse grains, so they can exceed rice plus wheat. Off-take in 2020-21 to 2022-23 includes the free grain under PMGKAY, ANBP (migrants) and non-NFSA Covid allocations (RBI's note). RBI's table also prints stock figures for 1950-51 to 1970-71, at 6,680 lakh tonnes of rice in 1950-51 and similar: hundreds of times every later year and more than India's whole harvest, so their unit cannot be read and they are left out. 1971-72 is not printed. The part year after the last full year is in farms-pds-latest."
